So last friday, I was opportuned to take my little nephew from school , and my friend was present ,while going back, he was acting a little grumpy. I didn't know what was wrong with him, bad day at school perhaps. Prolly one of those days he forgot 2x2 =4 ,and maybe was scolded for it .
"Enjoy it all, baby boy. A couple years from now all you gon have of it is memories." I said to him.
"I sure miss those good days." My bud added.
"Mmh...good days" he said .
I remember never wanting to go to school ,always crying when being dropped ,always failing the mathematical table and getting flogged amongst others. It looked hellish to me then ,but here I am calling it 'good days', then there was 'secondary school' (boarding) ,felt more hellish at that time and it was a six years affair. They were some days then I wished I could evaporate from the earth, yet here I am still having those memories, tagging it 'good old days' .
If there's one thing I have learnt from life is things don't always seem easy at the present (the heat of it) , but life is full of phases ,each moment we live is a passing phase ,each day we live is a potential 'good old day' ,as hard and stuck as it seems ,it going to pass ,but nothing is passing no where if we are not willing to walk through.
Funny enough most of the hard things we have to do right now (at the phase) that makes us feel crazed, in the future we are going to be glad we did them. I can't believe brushing my teeth was once the hardest task on earth for me at some point. But here I am today thankful my mum didn't stop forcing me.😂 My teeth prolly would be browner than it is.
So to my little nephew, I would always tell him
" these memories would make you smile someday ,and you would wish you could comeback."
And to myself "where I'm at now is a phase, a potential 'good old day'. I just have to make it worthwhile .
And to you reading "live every moment, go through every challenge with the thought that 1+1 was once the most difficult task for you at some point .
I miss those good old days.
